Barça want ‘Munich hat-trick hero’ back… for 86 billion
Barcelona want Dani Olmo (25, Leipzig) back.
“Barcelona will renew their efforts to bring back Olmo in next summer’s transfer window,” Spanish outlet Fichajes reported on Thursday.
Olmo is well known for coming through the Barcelona youth ranks. He showed promise in the age-group teams, but his time with the club came to an end when he failed to break into the first team.
His growth has been evident since parting ways with Barcelona. Olmo scored 12 goals and provided nine assists for Dinamo Zagreb in the 18/19 season, which led to his move to Leipzig in 2020.
In Leipzig, he continued to grow. Olmo didn’t need much of an adjustment period. Despite it being his first season, his seven goals and 12 assists in 20/21 heralded a bright future.
This season was just as promising. Olmo turned heads when he scored a hat trick in the German Super Cup against Bayern Munich in August.
Olmo’s meteoric rise has also put him on the radar of his hometown club Barcelona. According to reports, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has asked the club to bring Olmo back.
It’s not a one-way street. Some have suggested that Olmo is looking for a new challenge by returning to Barcelona. 무지개토토
It’s not out of the realm of possibility. Olmo’s contract with Leipzig includes a €60 million buyout clause that kicks in next summer. That would be enough to secure Olmo’s signature.
This is not a stage where Barcelona should be overconfident. They have plenty of competition. “Not only Barcelona, but also Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City are keeping an eye on Olmo,” Fichajes pointed out.
