Suwon FC’s Ji So-yeon scores multiple goals… Champions League first leg sweep

Suwon FC Womin’s “ace” Ji So-yeon scored a multi-goal performance to help the team win the Women’s Korean Football League (WK League) title.

Ji So-yeon scored two goals to lead Suwon FC to a 3-1 victory over Incheon Hyundai Steel in the first leg of the 2023 WK League Championship Final at Suwon Sports Complex on Monday. With the win, Suwon is just one step away from its first league title in 13 years. Hyundai Steel, the reigning champions of women’s soccer, saw their 11-game unbeaten streak come to an end.

Ji So-yeon played a key role in the team’s thrilling come-from-behind victory. Suwon conceded an early goal to Hyundai’s Chang Chang in the 38th minute of the first half, but it was in the second half that Ji worked her magic. Ji equalized in the 28th minute of the second half with a sharp right-footed shot from an indirect free kick. In the 35th minute, Ji-So-Yeon scored her second goal of the game, driving the ball directly into the box and scoring a powerful mid-range shot with the score tied at 1-1. Suwon held on for the complete victory, with Kim Yoon-ji scoring in the 45th minute.

Ji So-yeon, who spent eight years at Chelsea in England, joined Suwon in May last year. She was eager to break Hyundai Steel’s long dominance of the league and contribute to the development and popularity of Korean women’s soccer.

Thanks to Ji-so-yeon, Suwon finished third in the regular season this year. On Nov. 11, they won the playoffs against Hwacheon KSPO, the second-place team in the regular season, 2-1, to advance to the championship game and have a chance to win the title. Ji-so-yeon was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the playoffs, playing 120 minutes in overtime. 무지개토토 도메인

Now, she will spearhead Suwon’s quest for a second championship. Suwon won the title in 2010, when it was known as Suwon Facilities Management Corporation, beating Hyundai Steel. In 2019, when the organization was renamed Suwon City Corporation, it fell to Hyundai Steel in the championship game.

Game 2 of the championship will be held on April 25 at the Incheon Southeast Asia Drubby Stadium. The WK League will decide the final champion based on the total score of the first and second games of the championship. Suwon took a two-goal advantage in the first leg.
